New Japan Pro-Wrestling presented King of Pro-Wrestling from Ryogoku Sumo Hall on Monday, October 14.

The main event saw pro wrestling come home as Zack Sabre Jr. defeated Tetsuya Naito for the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship. Tetsuya Naito initially kicked out of a Zack Driver at one but ZSJ simply followed up with two more, including a Cross Legged Zack Driver to earn the win.

Zack Sabre Jr. earned the title shot by winning the G1 Climax and he ultimately decided not to wait until Wrestle Kingdom 19 on January 4.

New Japan produced a brutal booking decision in the semi-main event as Hirooki Goto failed to defeat David Finlay for the IWGP Global Heavyweight Championship as Goto's son and daughter watched on.

Goto had been on a resurgence in 2024 and he looked set to win as he set up for the GTR but a Gedo distraction allowed Finlay to escape and hit Oblivion before a shillelagh shot. Goto initially kicked out but an exchange of counters ended with Finlay connecting with Overkill for the win.

The finish left Goto's daughter in floods of tears and her only 'comfort' was David Finlay flipping her off.

Beyond Zack Sabre Jr., two titles changed hands at King of Pro-Wrestling as KUSHIDA and Kevin Knight of Intergalactic Jet Setters defeated Clark Connors and Drilla Moloney of Bullet Club War Dogs for the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Championships. Ren Narita also became NJPW World Television Champion, defeating Jeff Cobb and Yota Tsuji in a three-way after he hit Cobb with a wooden board and connected with the Double Cross.

King of Pro-Wrestling also celebrated Hiroshi Tanahashi's 25th anniversary and after a Gladiator 2-inspired entrance, the NJPW President teamed with Shota Umino and El Phantasmo to defeat House of Torture's EVIL, Yujiro Takahashi, and Dick Togo.

Post-match, Tanahashi announced he would bring his legendary career to a close on January 4, 2026.

Elsewhere on the show, DOUKI was unmasked by SHO to reveal a Kishin side which only led to the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion picking up a quick win over SHO with two Suplex de la Lunas. Master Wato then made the save for DOUKI post-match and set up a future title match in the process.

Shingo Takagi also successfully defended the NEVER Openweight Title against Ryohei Oiwa, while TMDK's Shane Haste and Mikey Nicholls held onto the IWGP Tag Team Championships with a win over Bad Luck Fale and Caveman Ugg.

In the opening contest, Hiromu Takahashi picked up a win over Mistico to continue their feud. CMLL's top star then challenged Hiromu to a Hair vs. Mask Match following the contest.
