Karl Anderson recently made his return to WWE alongside tag partner Luke Gallows, after the pair’s IMPACT Wrestling deals expired. Despite this, the pair were said to have an agreement to work with NJPW through to Wrestle Kingdom 17 in January 2023, with Anderson currently reigning as NEVER Openweight Champion in New Japan.

The first wrinkles in this agreement reared their heads this past week, with Anderson signed to work WWE’s Crown Jewel event in Saudi Arabia on November 5, the same day he was scheduled to defend his title against Hikuleo at NJPW Battle Autumn.

After news broke of Anderson’s double booking, NJPW President Takami Ohbari revealed he was ‘angry’ in an interview with Tokyo Sports, and after The Good Brothers released a video claiming they were never informed of their NJPW booking and wouldn’t be coming to the event, Ohbari took to Twitter to release the following statement:

“We are doing all we can to ensure every signed match in Osaka on November 5 happens as promised. We expect all wrestlers, especially champions, to honor their advertised commitments. #njautumn”

NJPW announced Anderson vs. Hikuleo on October 4, six days before The Good Brothers made their WWE return on the October 10 edition of Raw. The Good Brothers and AJ Styles vs Judgement Day at Crown Jewel was announced on October 17.
