NJPW STRONG Announces First Shows In Japan

NJPW STRONG heading to Japan

New Japan Pro-Wrestling have big plans for their STRONG brand that is based in the United States.

It was announced during the promotion's Resurgence pay-per-view from Long Beach, California on Sunday, May 21 that NJPW STRONG will head to Japan later this year. STRONG will present two 'Independence Day' events from Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, Japan on Tuesday, July 4 and Wednesday, July 5.

No matches have been announced for the shows as of yet but Eddie Kingston, Fred Rosser, Rocky Romero, Tom Lawlor, JR Kratos, Jorel Nelson, and Royce Isaacs are all advertised for the shows. Hiroshi Tanahashi is also scheduled to be in action.

A match hinted for one of the shows is KENTA vs. Eddie Kingston for the NJPW STRONG Openweight Championship. KENTA regained the title from Hikuleo at Resurgence and he was challenged to a future title match by Eddie Kingston during the NOAH legend's post-match celebrations. Kingston is currently out of action following hernia surgery but he is expected to return to the ring in time for July 4.

NJPW STRONG Independence Day will air on NJPW World pay-per-view.
