Despite a tease that "one of the WWE megastars" wanted to make an appearance at TNA's Rebellion pay-per-view, the show came and went without a WWE megastar on the show.
The tease was made by TNA World Champion Joe Hendry, who said during an appearance on Busted Open Radio ahead of Rebellion:
"We don't need to reveal who it is, but I know (Tommy Dreamer) knows who I'm going to be speaking about here because this person told me that you guys had a conversation. You said you wonder who might show up at Rebellion. One of the WWE megastars, who has a tour bus, told me they wanted to show up to Rebellion with their tour bus. We've got WWE megastars who want to get involved."
Why there was no WWE megastar appearance at Rebellion is unknown, nor who the talent teased by Hendry was.
Hendry defended the TNA World Championship at Rebellion against Ethan Page and Frankie Kazarian. Randy Orton's WrestleMania 41 opponent recorded the successful title defence after putting Kazarian through a table with an Attitude Adjustment before Hendry pinned Page following a Freak of Nature Fallaway Slam and the Standing Ovation.
Hendry ended the night on his back, though, after he was laid out by WWE NXT's Trick Williams following the match. The attack came only days after Hendry inserted himself into the NXT Title picture on the post-Stand & Deliver episode of NXT.
