NXT TakeOver Cancelled Over WWE Royal Rumble 2020 Weekend

To be replaced by...

There will be no NXT TakeOver event over Royal Rumble 2020 weekend, WWE have confirmed.

Speculation over this change began when WWE.com released details regarding their Royal Rumble Travel Package for January.

The schedule includes no mention of a TakeOver event, and on the Saturday night (where an NXT event would traditionally be held) there will be a Worlds Collide show at Houston's Toyota Center.

As reported by F4WOnline, WWE confirmed that this was not an oversight, and stated 'the schedule of the 2020 NXT TakeOver Events will be out in the near future'.

Worlds Collide began at this year's Royal Rumble weekend, taking place during Axxess events over two separate days. The event was based around a tournament featuring members of the NXT, NXT UK, and 205 Live brands, which was eventually won by Velveteen Dream. It was later released on the WWE Network.

Worlds Collide returned over WrestleMania 35 weekend in April, this time incorporating Superstars from the Raw and SmackDown brands as well. The event included a men's and women's battle royal, won by Roderick Strong and Bianca Belair respectively.
