Original MLW Plans For Alexander Hammerstone Revealed

Original plans for Alexander Hammerstone before MLW fall-out revealed

Major League Wrestling is in a state of change, with former tag champions Lance Anoa’i and Juicy Finau being granted their releases, whilst former long-reigning MLW World Champion Alexander Hammerstone has requested but been denied his release from the promotion.

Hammerstone was at one point the focal point of the entire company, having held the top title for over 644 days before dropping it to Alex Kane at Never Say Never in July 2023. A report from Fightful Select has shed some light on MLW’s original plans for Hammerstone moving forward, before a breakdown in their relationship.

After dropping the title to Kane, the original plans called for Hammerstone to turn heel and form a World Titan Federation stable with Matt Cardona and Davey Boy Smith Jr. The report alleges that Hammerstone was originally open to the idea, but seemingly changed his mind in the Spring, instead preferring to work again with Jacob Fatu or Alex Kane again.

Some within MLW alleged that Hammerstone seemed ‘checked out’, and at this point it’s unclear what’s next for the former champ. MLW have denied Hammerstone’s release request, and it remains to be seen if Hammerstone will play ball and return to MLW programming, or will find a way out of his contract which is set to expire in 2025.
