Original Plans For LWO Split Revealed

WWE originally had different ideas for the LWO breakup

In recent weeks, the Latino World Order has suffered from an irreparable split, as Santos Escobar turned heel on his mentor Rey Mysterio, dishing out a brutal assault on the WWE Hall of Famer. He would follow this up by attacking the other LWO members in Carlito, Joaquin Wilde, and Cruz del Toro in subsequent weeks too, and also making an enemy out of Dragon Lee.

A report from Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter has indicated that Angel Garza and Humberto Carillo of Los Lotharios (who are currently appearing in NXT) are set to join forces with Escobar, with Elektra Lopez also floated around as someone who could align with him too. However, this wasn’t always the original plan for the LWO split.

According to Meltzer, the original idea saw Escobar’s former Legado Del Fantasma allies in Wilde & Del Toro being by his side to feud with the likes of Rey Mysterio and Carlito, though given Escobar’s attack on the pair recently, this is clearly not set to happen any longer.
