One week on from losing a Falls Count Anywhere Match to Ethan Page at WWE NXT Great American Bash, Ricky Saints sustained another loss as Jasper Troy defeated him via count-out on the July 22 episode of NXT.
Saints ultimately lost the match as he and Troy ended up brawling up the ramp, with Troy driving the former Ricky Starks into the stage. This caused Saints to roll down the ramp, at which point the ramp collapsed. Troy then hit Saints with a Senton and he reached the ring before the count of 10, causing Saints to lose via count-out.
It appears Ricky Saints wasn't originally scheduled to suffer a loss on WWE NXT, however. Bryan Alvarez has reported on Wrestling Observer Radio that original plans called for Troy to hit a Senton to Ricky that would have sent them both crashing through the ramp.
"I did get it confirmed. This is what happened, they're brawling on the ramp and Ricky is supposed to take a bump on the ramp, and then Jasper is going to give him a senton and they will both crash through the ramp. Well, Ricky falls down and the damn ramp just breaks and he falls into a hole. So they zoom in on Jasper as I guess everyone is trying to figure out what the hell are we going to do now. And so the answer is Jasper does a jumping senton into the hole and just crushed Ricky Starks. And then he goes back to the ring and Ricky is counted out," Alvarez said.
"So listen, they didn't want to beat Ricky. They want the feud to continue. They came up with something, at least it was creative. And sh*t happens."
Ricky Saints has been a part of WWE since February 2025, having signed with the company just days after his release from All Elite Wrestling. He is already a former WWE NXT North American Champion.
