Darby Allin has been absent from AEW programming ever since December, taking time off for his delayed trip to climb Mount Everest, which was put on hold from the year prior due to an injury. Many believed Allin to be in AEW’s plans for the Death Riders storyline, though it was revealed recently that his climb up Everest had only just begun.

Fightful Select have learned of what AEW’s original expectations were for Allin’s ascent and eventual return. The report notes that the original feeling was that Allin was set to be back by the Spring, and in asking again, those in AEW stated that they had hoped for him to be back around the time of the Owen Hart Cup Tournament and the Double Or Nothing PPV. With the climb up Everest taking anywhere between six and ten weeks, Allin likely won’t be back in time for the show, with it being just over a month since he set off

Allin revealed last year that he planned to plant the AEW flag on Everest for whenever he reaches the summit.
