Pat McAfee Says His WWE Dream Isn't Done

Pat McAfee isn't finished with WWE

Pat McAfee's time as a full-time SmackDown commentator is over, at least for the time being, but the former Indianapolis Colts punter isn't finished with WWE.

Taking to Twitter, McAfee wrote: "A lot of wrestling chatter about me right now.. I think about wrestling everyday..that dream isn't done. My business is currently rather active and exigent...+ baby on the way...timing is everything. I still have MASSIVE plans for my journey to the WWE HOF someday. Believe that."

McAfee had been the colour commentator on Friday Night SmackDown alongside Michael Cole but Pat took a hiatus from that role in September 2022 to be an analyst on ESPN's College Gameday. He returned to the announce table at January's Royal Rumble pay-per-view but McAfee has not been back on TV since.

Wade Barrett revealed this week that he is now a permanent commentator on SmackDown with Michael Cole. McAfee remains under contract with WWE, having signed a multi-year extension in the summer of 2022.

Outside of WWE commentary, McAfee has had multiple matches against the likes of Adam Cole, Baron Corbin, Austin Theory, and even Vince McMahon.
