Pete Dunne Debuts On WWE SmackDown As Butch

"Butch" is now on the blue brand

Former NXT and NXT UK star Pete Dunne debuted on SmackDown on Friday night, with a brand new name.

During a backstage promo with Sheamus and Ridge Holland, Sheamus introduced Dunne, saying we know him by another name, but to he and Holland, he's "Butch".

Butch accompanied Sheamus and Holland to the ring for their match against Big E and Kofi Kingston. For the finish, Butch distracted Kingston, allowing Sheamus to throw him off the top rope and finish him with the Brogue Kick. Butch then proceeded to attack Kingston in the post match.

Dunne signed with WWE five years ago, competing in the NXT UK title tournament. After falling short in the finals to Tyler Bate, Dunne went on to win the title from Bate in May of 2017. He held the title for nearly two years before losing it to WALTER (Gunther).

Dunne last wrestled on NXT on the March 1 episode, losing to Carmelo Hayes in a North American title match. Two weeks earlier, he defeated Tony D'Angelo in a weapons-filled steel cage match.
