Possible WWE Plans For Will Ospreay Revealed

Will Ospreay might not necessarily be on the main roster if he decides to sign with WWE, with Dave Meltzer reporting on Wrestling Observer Radio that one idea thrown to him was for Ospreay to be the star of NXT Europe.

"One idea that was thrown at me was the idea of NXT Europe built around Will Ospreay. The revival of NXT Europe starts that thing of what happened with the original NXT UK and its effect on the independent scene in England - really hurt it badly. But, at the same time, they didn't run regular shows or anything like that they just did TV tapings. So you just don't know. They've got the go-ahead from Endeavor to do it, but you just don't know exactly what that entails," Meltzer said. 

Ospreay's deal with New Japan Pro-Wrestling expires in early 2024 and WWE, All Elite Wrestling, and TNA/IMPACT are all interested in signing the IWGP United Kingdom Champion. According to recent reports, "lots of people" expect Ospreay to sign with AEW next year. 

NXT Europe has been in the works since NXT UK was shuttered in the summer of 2022. WWE have been working on plans for the brand since then but the launch of NXT Europe was delayed due to the sale of WWE and the merger with UFC. Plans for NXT Europe are expected to move forward in early 2024.
