Last night’s Friday Night SmackDown was the last stop for WWE prior to taking over the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada for WrestleMania 41 this weekend, offering up one last opportunity for things to change ahead of the show, or for plans to be thrown in the air. Although nothing has yet been confirmed, there could be a potential upheaval of one WrestleMania match.
Rey Mysterio is scheduled to go one-on-one with Chad Gable’s masked alter ego, El Grande Americano, at WrestleMania 41 on Saturday’s line-up, but on SmackDown last night, Mysterio was carried out of the arena. Mysterio teamed up with Rey Fenix & Dragon Lee to take on Chad Gable & The Creed Brothers on SmackDown, but Mysterio was seemingly injured, sitting out of the final portion of the match, with Fenix & Lee working the last minutes and picking up the win. Fan footage on social media showed Mysterio being carried and helped to the back after the match.
Nothing has yet been announced, with Mysterio vs. El Grande Americano still on the rundown for WrestleMania 41, but there is no current update on the status of Mysterio. WWE recently made changes to the presentation of El Grande Americano, changing his billing to the ‘Gulf Of Mexico’.
