Potential Reason For Matt Riddle's WWE Release

Matt Riddle was let go from WWE throughout the night, adding him to the list of releases from this week, including other names like Dolph Ziggler, Elias, Emma, and more. 

Riddle’s release is arguably the most high profile of the latest bunch of layoffs, though it perhaps doesn’t come as much of a surprise considering some of the issues he’s been having outside the ring. In fact, a report from Fightful Select has stated that the potential reason behind Riddle’s release was due to the fact “that he burned through too many chances while in WWE”, with this coming directly from a WWE official. 

Riddle hasn’t been shy to controversy, gaining heat with multiple names including Goldberg, Seth Rollins, and Brock Lesnar over the years, with him also being suspended after violating WWE’s Wellness Policy, entering rehab late last year. Following WWE’s merger with UFC, there was some speculation that Riddle’s previous affiliation with UFC and his messy exit wasn’t likely to help his case.
