WWE star Randy Orton has seemingly thrown his name in the hat to be the next Batman.

Responding to a post on social media asking fans who they think should play The Dark Knight in James Gunn's DC Universe, The Viper replied with a simple waving emoji.

Orton has some acting experience, having appeared in WWE Studios productions such as 12 Rounds 2: Reloaded and The Condemned 2.

He may also have an 'in' with Gunn, with the director having worked closely with fellow OVW alumni Batista (on the Guardians of the Galaxy series) and John Cena (Peacemaker).

Orton signed a new, five-year WWE deal in 2024.

During an appearance on What Do You Wanna Talk About? with Cody Rhodes, Randy revealed that he had auditioned for the role of Cable in Marvel's Deadpool 2. He didn't receive a callback, however, and the part ultimately went to Josh Brolin.

A professional wrestler has appeared in a previous Batman film before, as Robert 'Jeep' Swenson portrayed Bane in the much-derided Batman & Robin (1997).
