Real Reason Eric Bischoff Is Appearing On WWE NXT
Why Eric Bischoff will be on WWE NXT
Dec 3, 2024
Eric Bischoff will make his first-ever in-person appearance on WWE NXT on Tuesday night when he is involved in the face-to-face confrontation between Trick Williams and Ridge Holland ahead of their NXT Title match at Deadline.
Bischoff's involvement on the show seemingly wasn't part of a long-term plan, though, and the former WCW Senior Vice President revealed on the Ariel Helwani Show that his NXT appearance came about because he was already scheduled to be in Orlando for a Peacock project.
"Both phone calls [WWE and MLW] came in around the same time. It was ironic. Just a simple call. There is another project that I'll be working on Wednesday for Peacock. Because I'm going to be there anyway, in Orlando working on that, 'Oh by the way, there is a live show on Tuesday. Let's get him in here and make him a part of the NXT show.' I think that's the reason it came together. Efficiency, more than anything, and a good opportunity. I've never been part of NXT, so this is a first for me and the audience," Bischoff said.
After being asked if this could lead to more WWE appearances for Bischoff, he joked: "I'm unemployable. People don't mind bringing me in for a night, but you watch, you won't see me again for six months. A little bit of me goes a long way. I'm just kidding. I think I'm a little bit outside of the demo. Just a bit. There is some name value there. A storied member of the Monday Night Wars and the legacy that created. It has some value, but realistically, it's limited. If I get an opportunity to do something like this a couple times a year, that's all I can ask for. I'm grateful for that."
Following his NXT appearance, Bischoff will be the host of MLW One Shot on December 5. Bischoff is unlikely to appear on AEW TV anytime soon, though, as the new mortgage loan officer has been heavily critical of All Elite Wrestling in recent years.
