Real Reason WWE Re-Signed CM Punk

Why did WWE sign CM Punk?

CM Punk may be a popular figure amongst professional wrestling fans but he is also a controversial one, especially after a messy exit during his last WWE run, not to mention the sea of backstage issues which have cropped up in the last two years during his time in AEW. Either way, WWE have taken the risk with Punk and signed him back to the company. The real reason for this has been revealed by Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, and it all comes down to the fans.

“From what I understood it was one of those things where it was a no except if they felt the public demand was there. I actually wrote that in this week’s issue in the sense that if they believed the demand was there they’re not gonna be an organisation that fights the fans. That’s pretty much it. Would Vince have done it in the same situation? Perhaps yes, perhaps no.”

There has been a lot of talk online about a potential Punk return to the company, with him trending on X a lot over the last week. There were also audible CM Punk chants from the Chicago crowd both during and before Survivor Series and SmackDown.
