With the recent news of two high-profile AEW releases - Miro and Ricky Starks - an interesting development has come to light regarding their ability to work elsewhere immediately. Fightful Select reports the following:

"We're told all of these talent are free to go wherever they choose and there are not non-competes associated with the releases."

Malakai Black has also departed All Elite Wrestling following the expiry of his contract.

There has been a lot of fan speculation regarding a return to WWE for Malakai Black, following in the footsteps of previous AEW stars such as Cody Rhodes and Andrade. Miro, too, is somebody many fans feel was never given a sustained push in WWE despite becoming very popular with audiences.

The lack of a no-compete clause is perhaps most pertinent in the case of Ricky Starks, whose latter days in AEW were most notable for his situation with GCW. Starks was blocked from making several GCW appearances by AEW despite not being used on TV, and his contract rapidly approaching its expiration. Had he not been granted this release, Starks' deal would have been up in a few months anyway.
