Malakai Black Officially Gone From AEW
Malakai Black no longer signed to AEW
Feb 10, 2025
Malakai Black has officially departed All Elite Wrestling and the former AEW World Trios Champion is no longer a part of the promotion.
PWInsider has reported that Black became a free agent after his All Elite Wrestling contract expired on Sunday, February 9. Black was removed from the AEW roster page earlier today.
Black joined AEW in the Summer of 2021 and began his run with a hot feud against Cody Rhodes. That was ultimately the high point of Black's time in AEW and the 39-year-old reportedly frustrated his AEW colleagues with his frequent claims of dealing with injuries and the perception that he was reluctant to do jobs. He also reportedly didn't develop a rapport with Tony Khan.
Having finished up with AEW, the expectation is Black will head back to WWE. Influential names in the company are reportedly big fans of Black and they see him as a possible top singles act.
Black's old House of Black faction mates in AEW have already moved on, with Brody King, Buddy Matthews, and Julia Hart being repackaged as the Hounds of Hell.
Malakai Black joins Ricky Starks and Miro in exiting AEW in recent days. WWE, meanwhile, released several talents over the weekend.
