The Young Bucks' second reign as IWGP Tag Team Champions is over after just 37 days.
Matthew and Nicholas Jackson put the IWGP Tag Team Titles on the line against Los Ingobernables de Japon's Tetsuya Naito and Hiromu Takahashi in a headline match at NJPW New Beginning in Osaka on Tuesday, February 11. The match had a frenetic pace and the Young Bucks thought they had the match won following an EVP Trigger to Naito, but the former IWGP World Heavyweight Champion managed to survive.
The Young Bucks looked to press home their advantage soon after with a Tony Khan Driver to Hiromu Takahashi but Naito saved his tag team partner and followed up with Destinos to both Matthew and Nicholas. One more Destino to Nicholas was enough for LIJ to win the IWGP Tag Team Titles by pinfall.
The Young Bucks said thank you to the NJPW fans and waved goodbye as they headed to the back post-match. How far away they are from returning to All Elite Wrestling is unknown.
Matthew and Nicholas Jackson returned to NJPW at Wrestle Dynasty, winning the vacant tag team titles in a three-way against Naito & Hiromu and United Empire's Great-O-Khan & Jeff Cobb. The Bucks had been away from pro wrestling altogether since deciding to work from home in AEW to avoid the Death Riders in late 2024.
