Report: Absent Star Re-Signs With AEW

An absent AEW star will be around until at least 2025

A talent who hasn't been booked on All Elite Wrestling TV in one year has been re-signed by the promotion.

According to Fightful Select, Anthony Ogogo signed a new full-time deal with AEW around the end of 2022 and the beginning of 2023, penning a two-year extension with the promotion that keeps him under contract until at least the start of 2025.

The Guv'nor hasn't appeared on any AEW programming since August 2022 but he has been in London this week doing media for All In, the promotion's pay-per-view at Wembley Stadium on Sunday, August 27. Fightful noted they hadn't heard of any creative plans for Ogogo, though. He is healthy and available to wrestle.

Ogogo was one of AEW's first developmental talents, signing with the promotion in 2019. The Olympic bronze medallist in boxing received a push on AEW TV in 2021 which included a Double or Nothing match against Cody Rhodes, but Ogogo had to take time off soon after to undergo his 10th eye surgery.

He was brought back to AEW at the end of the year but Ogogo has only been booked sparingly since then on the promotion's YouTube shows, which have since been scrapped. Ogogo has also performed on the independent wrestling scene, including for PROGRESS Wrestling in the United Kingdom.

A high-profile match with Adebayo Akinfenwa as his tag team partner was planned at one point but ultimately fell through. Ogogo teamed with Dan Moloney instead as they defeated Malik and Kosta Konstantino in November 2022. That was his most recent pro wrestling match.
