Report: Ace Steel Banned From AEW Shows Due To Being 'An Insurance Risk'

Brawl Out comes back to bite Ace Steel

Don't expect to find Ace Steel backstage at any AEW shows in the near future.

It was revealed earlier this year that Steel had rejoined All Elite Wrestling and it emerged the former ROH star would be involved with putting together AEW creative, in particular CM Punk's plans. Steel is banned from being on the road with AEW, though, and Fightful Select has reported that is because Steel is considered an "insurance risk" due to his role in Brawl Out.

Steel is said to have met with Tony Khan in recent months to discuss wrestling and it was ultimately decided that Steel could return. He is allowed to seek work outside of the promotion and his AEW deal expires in the Autumn of 2024. Steel's current role sees him primarily suggest creative for CM Punk and he has periodic conversations with Tony Khan.

Steel initially signed with AEW in early 2022 following his departure from WWE. The 50-year-old was fired following his involvement in Brawl Out, though, as Steel allegedly bit Kenny Omega and threw a chair that hit Nick Jackson. As mentioned, Steel has since been brought back and he may have received some compensation for his time out of AEW, with Fightful revealing it was suggested to them that Steel received back pay for the period he wasn't with the company.
