Report: Additional AEW Departures Expected

Several contracts are due to lapse

After Lio Rush tweeted earlier Saturday about his impending free agent status, several sources have reported that more departures are expected over the coming weeks.

Fightful Select has reported that Rush's contract is, "...one of many that is running out over the next month or so." Mike Johnson of PWInsider confirms the same, writing, "There are several contracts coming up that will not be renewed in addition to the departing Rush," while giving a time frame of 30 to 60 days.

Johnson does posit that some of those departing talents could be brought back and used on a "per appearance" basis, but that's just a possibility.

Johnson's report also notes that Peter Avalon's AEW contract recently expired.

Neither report lists any specific talents, outside of Rush.

In Fightful's report, they quote Rush as saying sometime last week, "I got offered a deal initially and things happen, things change, the world of wrestling has changed. I will say this, this is no secret, this is me pointing out the obvious; I'm a lone wolf. I go where I want, I like putting things on my resume and I like working different places and wrestling anybody and everybody. We've seen that since I left WWE. I've been to AAA, MLW, AEW, New Japan.

"(My independence) is very important. It's very important for my mental stability. I never really like being stuck in one spot, especially if I don't have control over that."
