Report: AEW Creative That Miro Turned Down Revealed
Miro reportedly turned down AEW creative plans ahead of potential return
Mar 24, 2023
Miro has certainly been conspicuous by his absence from AEW TV, with the former TNT Champion having not been seen in the promotion since AEW All Out in September 2022.
Reports at the end of 2022 suggested that ‘The Redeemer’ had turned down ideas for a return from AEW’s creative team, and a new report from Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter alleges what such plans were.
According to Meltzer’s report, AEW earmarked Miro for a Battle Royal slot at November’s Full Gear PPV, with Miro and Hangman Page set for the final two, with Page winning overall. After Miro allegedly rejected this idea, AEW President Tony Khan is believed to have informed Miro that they’d come back around and work on something after the PPV, but the situation isn't believed to have advanced since then.
Miro’s initial run in AEW was very strong, with the Bulgarian’s transformation from ‘The Best Man’ to ‘God’s Favourite Champion’ making him one of the most over acts in the company in 2021. An injury put him on the shelf for several months, but since being cleared in June 2022, Miro has only managed four matches in the company.
