Change Made To Mercedes Moné's Next IWGP Women's Title Defence

Mercedes Moné will face two opponents at NJPW Sakura Genesis

It had all but been made official in recent weeks that Mercedes Moné would defend her IWGP Women's Championship against STARDOM High Speed Champion AZM at New Japan Pro-Wrestling's Sakura Genesis show on April 8, but a change has been made to that planned match.

After AZM announced her intentions to face Moné, Hazuki put her name in the mix, proposing a Three-Way at Sakura Genesis. Moné accepted the challenges today and she will put the IWGP Women's Title on the line on April 8. The winner of that match will go on to face Mayu Iwatani at STARDOM's event from Yokohama Arena on April 23.

Mercedes Moné has been IWGP Women's Champion since defeating KAIRI for the belt at Battle in the Valley on February 18. The three-way at Sakura Genesis will be her first defence of the title.

How long Moné will remain a part of New Japan remains unknown. As of last word, she was only scheduled for dates with the promotion until April 23, but she has hinted at performing at Forbidden Door in June.

Other matches already official for Sakura Genesis include Kazuchika Okada vs. SANADA for the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship, and Aussie Open vs. Bishamon for the IWGP Tag Team Titles.
