Report: AEW Dynamite 'Heavily Affected' By Hurricane Ian

Hurricane Ian causes AEW Dynamite plans to change

Hurricane Ian made landfall in Florida on Wednesday and the storm "heavily affected" All Elite Wrestling's episode of Dynamite from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Fightful Select reported.

Big changes were made to Dynamite because of the absences of Swerve Strickland and Samoa Joe. Both were scheduled to be in Philadelphia but could not make it to the tapings because of the hurricane. Strickland was scheduled to be alongside Keith Lee but his Swerve In Our Glory tag team partner was alone for a backstage segment with The Acclaimed on September 28.

What AEW's plans for Samoa Joe were is unknown. The ROH World Television Champion most recently teamed with Wardlow to defeat Tony Nese and Josh Woods at Rampage Grand Slam.

AEW President Tony Khan announced this week that attendance at Dynamite for talent was voluntary due to the storm.

More than two million homes in Florida have been left without power because of Hurricane Ian and the category four storm brought 150 mph winds and a storm surge of up to 18ft. Residential areas in Fort Myers and other coastal cities were almost completely submerged.
