Report: AEW Hands Out Suspensions, Makes Changes To Dynamite Following Backstage Fight

Big changes to AEW Dynamite

All Elite Wrestling's original plans for the post-All Out edition of Dynamite on Wednesday, September 7 have been thrown out of the window following Sunday's backstage fight between CM Punk, Ace Steel and The Elite.

According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer, two changes that have been made mean Chris Jericho and Jon Moxley will both appear on the show in Buffalo, New York. Neither of the former AEW World Champions were originally scheduled to be at the event. If Moxley and Jericho will be in action or simply appearing on Dynamite is currently unknown.

Alongside the Dynamite changes, AEW have handed out suspensions stemming from Sunday's fight. There is no word on who has been suspended, only that AEW producers Ace Steel and Pat Buck will not be backstage for Dynamite. It is also believed that CM Punk, The Young Bucks, and Kenny Omega will not be in Buffalo for the show.

Sunday's fight came about following an inflammatory media scrum with CM Punk during which the AEW World Champion took shots at Colt Cabana, the AEW EVPs, and Hangman Page. Following the press conference, there was a backstage fight between CM Punk, Ace Steel and The Elite after Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks confronted Punk. Steel bit Omega and threw a chair at Nick Jackson during the altercation that left him with a black eye, while CM Punk also threw punches at The Young Bucks.

The current lineup for AEW Dynamite is as follows:

  • Best Friends & Orange Cassidy vs. Death Triangle
  • Wheeler Yuta (c) vs. Daniel Garcia - ROH Pure Championship
  • MJF will speak
