Report: AEW's Top Wrestlers Would Be 'Relieved' If CM Punk Left AEW
There would be relief for top AEW stars in CM Punk left the company
Although some fans were expecting CM Punk to be announced for an AEW return ahead of the debut of a brand-new show, Collision, his comeback is reportedly now up in the air amidst some backstage disagreements regarding the hiring of Ace Steel.
Wade Keller of PWTorch has reported that despite some names such as FTR being happy with the potential of a CM Punk return, there are also those who aren’t necessarily pleased, and would even be ‘relieved’ if he never came back.
“I am consistently told by multiple people in AEW in various roles and of various ages and experience levels – wrestlers and otherwise (some who have known Punk for many years and others who just have been around him in AEW) – that most of AEW’s top wrestlers who regularly appear on Dynamite would be relieved if Punk and AEW parted ways.”
It isn’t clear who exactly these names are, but it would make sense given the controversy surrounding Punk’s name and following the events of ‘Brawl Out’.
