Report: AEW Were Interested In Natalya

AEW held an interest in signing Natalya

Natalya may have ended up in All Elite Wrestling had she hit the free-agent market.

According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, AEW were interested in bringing in Natalya. The former SmackDown Women's Champion ultimately re-signed with WWE before she became a free agent, however.

"She re-signed. There was interest from the other side. She did not enter free agency. Her contract had not expired yet and WWE went to make sure to lock her up before her contract expired. She'd gotten a really good offer I think it was back in May but she had just re-signed," Meltzer said.

It is believed that Natalya has signed a multi-year extension with WWE and the company didn't want to lose her. Contract negotiations took so long as Natalya wanted to ensure she could work on outside projects around her WWE deal.

It was previously noted that talent and staff within AEW were pushing for the possibility of Natalya joining the company but today is the first confirmation that AEW management were interested in bringing in Natalya.

Natalya has been with WWE since 2007. In addition to her SmackDown Women's Title reign, Natalya is a former Divas Champion and one-time WWE Women's Tag Team Champion.
