Report: Alberto El Patron Pulled From AAA TripleMania XXX

No Alberto El Patron in AAA

Alberto El Patron's AAA return has reportedly been scrapped.

Emily Pratt at Fanbyte reported last week that El Patron would be in action at the first of three TripleMania XXX shows on April 30 in Monterrey, with the former WWE Champion scheduled to be Laredo Kid's mystery partner in a three-way tag team match.

An insider within AAA noted El Patron wasn't the promotion's first choice but the decision was made to book the 44-year-old following visa issues. Konnan also reportedly believed TripleMania needed "a big star, a big surprise" but there were no long-term plans for El Patron in AAA.

Since the initial report, however, Pratt has noted that El Patron has been "pulled from the match" and his replacement is set to be a wrestler from the American independent wrestling scene.

There is no word on why El Patron was pulled from the event.

The former WWE talent was charged in 2020 with aggravated kidnapping and sexual assault but the case was dropped last year after a witness did not appear in court.

El Patron has performed for various indy promotions, primarily in Mexico, since his IMPACT Wrestling run came to an end in 2018.
