Report: Andrade El Idolo Deemed To Be The Aggressor In AEW Backstage Altercation With Sammy Guevara

Further details on the AEW backstage fight between Andrade El Idolo and Sammy Guevara

News about the backstage fight between Sammy Guevara and Andrade El Idolo has continued to filter out since it took place on Wednesday night ahead of AEW Dynamite and further details have been revealed.

Initial reports from Fightful Select and TMZ noted that Guevara pushed Andrade and El Idolo threw a punch. This account was disputed by Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, however, and he reported that El Idolo waited for Guevara in the hallway and proceeded to punch him twice, while Sammy did not fight back.

In an update, Fightful Select have reported that they have heard many accounts of the altercation and "few of the accounts claim that Guevara also shoved Andrade." This recollection of events was in line with what Andrade's side was saying.

Instead, most of the accounts indicate that Andrade was the aggressor and Guevara tried not to participate in the altercation. Many recollections state that Andrade arrived, waited to see Sammy and threw a couple of punches at the former TNT Champion before they were broken up.

It was previously noted that both men were warned by AEW and they told the promotion there would be no fight on Wednesday. Andrade was sent home following the altercation while Guevara remained in Washington, DC and competed in the main event of Dynamite.

Andrade's long-term AEW future is uncertain and reports have noted that he is currently trying to get fired by AEW. Andrade was told he would not be fired if he fought Guevara, but he would be sent home which is what happened.
