Report: Another Major Name Discussed For WWE Royal Rumble Return

Could another big return happen?

The Royal Rumble pay-per-view has become famous for its surprises during the show's long history and another big return has been discussed for the 2022 event, set to take place on Saturday, January 29 in St. Louis, Missouri.

According to Fightful Select, many possible Royal Rumble participants have been discussed, including the possible return of Kairi Sane.

The former NXT Women's Champion hasn't competed in WWE since she retired from in-ring competition in July of 2020 and headed back to Japan, taking on an ambassadorial role in the company instead.

Sane's WWE contract is believed to be up in February and The Pirate Princess has publicly given the impression she won't be re-signing with the company. She also recently opened a 24-hour gym in Japan.

Another name discussed as a potential Royal Rumble entrant is Sane's former partner in the Kabuki Warriors, Asuka. The Empress Of Tomorrow has been out of action with an injury since the 2021 edition of Money In The Bank but if she has been cleared for an in-ring return is currently unknown.
