Report: Backstage News On Brock Lesnar Bleeding At WWE Backlash
Brock Lesnar was busted open at WWE Backlash
It has become a rarity on WWE TV but blood was utilised during the main event of Backlash on Saturday, May 6 as Brock Lesnar was busted open after Cody Rhodes sent him crashing into an exposed turnbuckle. Lesnar soon had a crimson mask and he would go on to lose at Backlash after Cody Rhodes scored the 1-2-3 while Brock had the Kimura Lock applied.
Brock Lesnar being busted open appeared to be planned as he didn't receive immediate medical attention like Finn Balor at WrestleMania 39, and Fightful Select has indeed reported that Lesnar getting colour was supposed to happen during the match. Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer also reported that Lesnar being busted open was not an accident and Brock is allowed to bleed in matches if he is cut open hard-way. The former WWE Champion is not allowed to blade, though, as the practice remains banned within WWE.
There were also rumours that Cody was set to be squashed by Lesnar at Backlash but Fightful Select noted that was never scheduled to happen.
Following his match with Lesnar, Cody Rhodes will be involved in the WWE World Heavyweight Title tournament that begins on tonight's episode of Raw. Find out what WWE have planned for The American Nightmare and Brock Lesnar going forward here.
