Report: Backstage News On Scrapped WWE Money In The Bank Pitch For Charlotte Flair

Charlotte Flair wasn't involved at WWE Money in the Bank despite being pitched for the show

After failing to win the WWE Women's Championship on the June 30 edition of Friday Night SmackDown, Charlotte Flair almost found herself involved at the Money in the Bank pay-per-view on July 1.

It emerged ahead of the show that an internal pitch was for Charlotte Flair to replace Zelina Vega in the women's Money in the Bank Ladder Match. That pitch didn't end up coming to fruition, though, as Vega entered the match as advertised and was involved in one of the big moments of the match, hitting a Sunset Flip Powerbomb on Zoey Stark from the ladder to a ladder bridge. IYO SKY would go on to win the Money in the Bank briefcase after handcuffing Bayley and Becky Lynch together.

While Flair didn't enter the match, PWInsider reported the company did make sure to keep the former SmackDown Women's Champion hidden backstage and her being added to the ladder match was a possibility even after Money in the Bank began. Why the company didn't go through with adding Flair to Money in the Bank is unknown.

Flair recently made her return to WWE TV after a brief hiatus. She looks set to challenge Asuka for the WWE Women's Championship in the future in a Triple Threat with Bianca Belair.
