Report: Backstage News On Last Night's WWE Raw Rewrites

WWE had to scramble to put the show together

Drew McIntyre was set to feature heavily on last night's Monday Night Raw. The Scottish Psychopath was scheduled to answer Goldberg's challenge and wrestle Randy Orton in the main event.

Those plans ultimately had to be scrapped, though, because McIntyre tested positive for COVID-19. Triple H was instead slotted into the main event, wrestling for the first time in 18 months, and multiple Superstars ended up pulling double duty.

McIntyre's positive test meant Raw had to be rewritten at the last minute. According to Mike Johnson of PWInsider, the script for the first hour of the show had not been completed as of 7: 02 pm ET - only 58 minutes before Raw went on the air. The company also only had a rough outline for what they were going to do in hours two and three as of 7 pm ET.

In regards to Triple H's Raw return, Johnson noted the 14-time world champion was added to the show to help the red brand in the ratings against the College Football Playoff National Championship game.
