Report: Backstage Reactions To Anthony Bowens' Viral AEW Rampage Segment

Positive reactions backstage after Anthony Bowens' viral segment

On Friday’s AEW Rampage, quite a notable segment took place in which openly gay wrestler Anthony Bowens shrugged off advancements and insinuations by QTV’s Harley Cameron by proclaiming that he was gay, so wouldn’t be interested. In what was a wonderful show of how far professional wrestling has come since its dark days, this prompted a huge, positive crowd reaction, with chants of “he’s gay” filling the arena.

Fightful Select has learned some of the backstage reaction to this segment, which has proceeded to go viral across social media platforms.

“We're told the segment was largely put together by Billy Gunn and QT Marshall. Marshall had spoken with Anthony Bowens about proclaiming he was gay if he was comfortable with doing so, We're told Bowens was a little nervous about the segment but ended up being happy with the result.

At one point, the segment was scheduled for Dynamite, as The Acclaimed had mentioned that they would be on the show. However, we're told that it was moved to Rampage to give it the time that it needed.”

The segment also saw the return to AEW of Johnny TV (John Morrison), who looks to have signed with AEW.
