At WrestleMania 35, Batista competed in his final wrestling match in a losing effort to Triple H. Following the loss, the Animal quietly announced his retirement from WWE.

In the view of many wrestling fans, the Guardians of the Galaxy star had a Hall Of Fame worthy career, capturing the World Heavyweight Championship on four occasions and the WWE Championship twice. He was also a member of Evolution with Triple H, Ric Flair and Randy Orton, in which he captured the World Tag Team Championship with the Nature Boy.

Now, People.com

have confirmed that Batista will indeed be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame. Batista explained that Vince McMahon called him personally to offer him the honour. He admitted that while he wasn't surprised, it was good to be recognised for his contribution to Professional wrestling, adding: "It's a really great feeling."

Batista said: "Vince called me personally to ask me [...] I wasn’t surprised, but I was pretty happy. It’s a good feeling; it’s a really great feeling."

The former WWE Champion's biggest worry appears to be how best to express his gratitude to WWE. He told People.com: "As soon as I hung up the phone, I was...and excuse my language, I was like 'S**t, I gotta give a speech.'" He later added: "I don’t think that they’ll really appreciate how grateful I am."

The Hall of Fame ceremony will take place on April 2nd 2020 at the Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida.
