Report: Brian Cage Working For AEW/ROH Without A Contract

Brian Cage is reportedly working without an AEW/ROH contract

The relationship between Brian Cage and AEW has not always been a smooth one, and it is now being reported that ‘The Machine’ is currently working for AEW and sister promotion ROH without a contract.

Cage is currently one third of the ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Champions alongside The Gates of Agony, and ahead of their successful title defence at Supercard of Honor on March 31, reports suggested that Cage’s deal had expired. A new report from Fightful Select has seemingly shed more light on Cage’s situation, with Cage’s deal set to have expired at midnight after the PPV, with the two sides said to be in discussion over a new deal.

It’s believed that AEW/ROH have a short term contract on the table for Cage, and that attempts were made to agree on a short-term contract extension prior to discussing a longer term deal for the former IMPACT World Champion. So far discussions between AEW/ROH and Cage over a new deal are said to have been productive.

Cage originally signed with AEW in early 2020, and was awarded the old ECW FTW Title by Taz shortly into his run. After a high profile feud with Ricky Starks, Cage was seldom seen on AEW TV, prompting reports that Cage was frustrated by his booking in the company. Again, per Fightful’s report, Cage is said to have strong supporters in the AEW locker-room who have pushed for his re-hiring, whilst there are also powerful names in WWE’s locker-room hoping that Cage will jump ship.
