Report: Bryan Danielson Helped Put Together AEW Rampage 'Championship Friday'

Bryan Danielson played a big part in AEW Rampage 'Championship Friday'

Bryan Danielson is more involved with AEW creative than initially believed.

It emerged in recent weeks that Danielson will be contributing to creative for AEW Collision and The American Dragon noted during the Double or Nothing media scrum that he has a collaborative relationship with Tony Khan. Danielson appears to be already involved with creative beyond his own programmes, though, with Dave Meltzer reporting on Wrestling Observer Radio that Danielson has booking influence behind the scenes.

This extended to the recent 'Championship Friday' edition of AEW Rampage, with the concept coming about following a collaboration between Danielson and Tony Khan. The show that aired on Friday, June 2 saw the ROH Pure Title, NJPW World Television Championship, AAA Mega Title, and NJPW STRONG Women's Championship defended on Rampage. All four champions ended up retaining their titles against AEW wrestlers.

Danielson does have a history working behind the scenes, having been involved with WWE creative during his final years with the company. He notably pitched Big E's singles run which culminated with the New Day member winning the WWE Championship, while Danielson also lobbied for the likes of Gran Metalik, Lince Dorado, Chad Gable, and Drew Gulak to be pushed on WWE TV.
