Report: Buddy Matthews Believed To Want WWE Return

It is believed Buddy Matthews wants to go back to WWE

Following the announcement that Buddy Matthews would be stepping away from professional wrestling to recalibrate, a report has noted it is believed the House of Black member wants a WWE return.

Wrestling Observer's Dave Meltzer noted there is no confirmation that Matthews has been released by All Elite Wrestling but "just about everyone figures he's got a long-term deal, wants to go back to WWE and has to work something out to do so." If AEW will grant him his release is unknown, though, as "Tony Khan is not hot on releasing people to go to WWE."

Furthermore, Fightful Select reported following Matthews' announcement that the former WWE Cruiserweight Champion was possibly done with AEW for a while or on his way out of the promotion. He had reportedly expressed his dissatisfaction with his situation in the past two months and Buddy's spot with Great Muta at Rampage Grand Slam was done to write him off TV.

Matthews is just the latest House of Black member to have an uncertain future with AEW. Malakai Black recently confirmed that he had asked for his release from the organisation and was taking time away to recalibrate. Black reportedly asked for his release after WWE reached out to him.
