This week's episode of Monday Night Raw was built around Christian's return to the squared circle after he was forced to retire six years ago. The show opened with Captain Charisma and Randy Orton meeting in the centre of the ring after The Viper defeated Edge the night before in The Greatest Wrestling Match Ever. The segment was kept short and ultimately ended after Orton challenged Christian to an unsanctioned match.

The bout didn't last long as Ric Flair Low Blowed the former TNA star before he received a Punt from Orton to end the match within a minute.

Christian stepping inside the ring again was somewhat of a surprise as the former World Heavyweight Champion previously said he was not medically cleared to compete and was content with what he accomplished during his career.

Dave Meltzer reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Christian's circumstances have not changed despite the match and he is still medically disqualified from in-ring action.

Captain Charisma will, therefore, have to rely on his best friend Edge to seek revenge on his behalf. When The Rated-R Superstar will next confront Orton remains to be seen, however, as he suffered a torn triceps at Backlash and will be out of action for up to eight months.
