Report: CM Punk Feared AEW Main Event With Hangman Page Would Devolve Into A Shoot Fight

CM Punk reportedly feared Hangman Page match would get real

It’s no secret by now that tensions were high ahead of CM Punk and Hangman Page’s AEW World Title clash at Double or Nothing 2022, after Punk felt disrespected by Page after his ‘worker’s rights’ jab during a promo.

Whilst Punk would eventually take multiple shots at Page on the mic and during the All Out post-event media scrum, a report from Wrestling Inc. states that Punk’s camp feared tensions would boil over in the ring, with Punk reportedly fearing that their Double or Nothing main event clash would devolve into a shoot fight.

The match would eventually go off without a hitch, with Page doing the job for Punk, giving Punk his first AEW World Championship.

After Punk’s comments about Page and The Elite at the All Out media scrum, a backstage fight occurred between Punk, Ace Steel, The Young Bucks, and Kenny Omega, with all five receiving extended suspensions, with Ace Steel relieved of his duties as an AEW producer earlier this month.
