Report: CM Punk Pushed For Another Opponent For AEW Return Feud

CM Punk reportedly had a preferred opponent in mind ahead of an expected AEW return

We are seemingly ever closer to a long-awaited All Elite Wrestling return for CM Punk, with the former AEW World Champion believed to be returning to the promotion in June before spearheading the rumoured AEW Collision TV show on Saturday nights.

It's been suggested that if and when Punk returns that he will launch straight into a feud with Chris Jericho, but a report from Fightful Select revealed that Punk is believed to have pushed for a different major feud out of the gate instead.

No names have been revealed as to whom Punk is believed to have asked to work with, with AEW fans on social media all giving their own theories and fantasy booking on who could have been in the frame. There are still a ton of dream matches and feuds on the table for Punk, as well as the potential to revisit feuds from his days in Ring of Honor.

Alas, for all intents and purposes it seems that Punk vs. Jericho is the most likely scenario for Collision’s launch and Punk’s return, a feud that will likely play off real life due to Jericho allegedly labelling the ‘Second City Saint’ a ‘locker-room cancer’ after the events of Brawl Out in September 2022. Punk then called Jericho a 'stooge' in a March 2023 Instagram Stories post.
