Report: CM Punk Vs. KENTA 'Not A Done Deal' For AEW X NJPW Forbidden Door

KENTA vs. CM Punk may not be happening

Recently, KENTA has been delivering some jibes towards CM Punk on Twitter, and with fans wanting to see this dream match and battle of the GTS’ for several years, there has been some expectation that KENTA and CM Punk will have a match at the AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door PPV on June 25. However, it seems as though a match may not be on the cards, per a report on PWInsider Elite.

“There have been rumors of a CM Punk vs. KENTA match for the Toronto PPV over the last few days but we are hearing that is not a done deal and may not even be the plan.  They do want Punk to wrestle on that show.”

One would think with all the teases that the match would be in the works, but this could well be KENTA doing it off his own back to try and push a match towards being booked. Punk would miss last year’s Forbidden Door PPV due to an injury, which saw him ruled out of an AEW World Championship match with Hiroshi Tanahashi, so it is easy to see why AEW and NJPW would want him in attendance this year.
