Cody Rhodes looks set to make a sensational return to WWE.

In statements issued today, Cody, Brandi Rhodes and All Elite Wrestling President Tony Khan announced they had parted ways and put on record their thanks to one another.

This came after it emerged there had been talk at Monday Night Raw about Cody possibly joining WWE and reports from Fightful Select and Mat Men's Andrew Zarian noted WWE and The American Nightmare had at the very least held discussions.

Now, it appears Cody is likely WWE bound with WrestleVotes reporting a source "fully anticipates" Vince McMahon's company and Rhodes will reach an agreement.

"Spoke to a source just now that fully anticipates WWE coming to an agreement with Cody Rhodes. Unbelievable," they tweeted.

Cody and Brandi's AEW departures come after they and the promotion failed to reach a deal on Monday. The three-time TNT Champion also reportedly wanted a "big money deal" and it was believed on Friday he would be leaving AEW.

Cody previously performed for WWE for 10 years from 2006 until he was granted his release in 2016 under his real name and as Stardust. He is a two-time Intercontinental Champion and six-time tag team champion, having held the gold with Hardcore Holly, Ted DiBiase Jr., Drew McIntyre and his brother Goldust.

Following his release, Cody performed for the likes of Ring Of Honor, IMPACT Wrestling and NJPW before he founded AEW with Brandi, The Young Bucks, Tony Khan and Kenny Omega in January 2019.
