It has emerged over the last few days that the wife of Matt Jackson, Dana Massie, who has had a role as an executive in AEW for the past few years, was set to leave the company, joining the list of other executives who have parted ways recently too.

Whilst some who have left AEW have done so for better job opportunities, Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio explained how Massie’s exit is due to personal issues with the promotion, especially after how the company handled the Brawl Out situation.

"She was someone who was at one point expecting to do this forever, and I think what happened is that everything that happened over the last year, [which saw] her husband, her brother-in-law, vilified and never defended and never allowed to defend themselves and the company never defending them. It made it really difficult”, Meltzer explained, "With [Dana], I'm sure it just got too tough. She just felt that they were never defended at a time when they probably should've been defended by the company...Punk went after her too, and she was never defended."

Meltzer explained how AEW did in fact offer to re-sign Massie, but she turned down their offer due to what had gone on behind the scenes. Matt & Nick Jackson of the Young Bucks did re-sign with AEW in 2023, along with other members of The Elite, though it seems tensions are still high amongst some of the higher ups in the company.
