Report: Daniel Bryan Has Pushed For WWE NXT Superstars To Be Called Up To SmackDown

He reportedly wants to freshen things up on the blue brand

Recent reports have noted that Damian Priest was scheduled to make his main roster debut on last week's Friday Night SmackDown. The Archer Of Infamy was set to be introduced in the main event segment as Kevin Owens' best friend, but KO didn't think Priest being his best friend made sense and the plan was scrapped. The former North American Champion is currently in line to debut on Monday Night Raw later this month instead.

According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Daniel Bryan has been pushing for NXT Superstars to be called up to the blue brand to help freshen things up.

The four-time WWE Champion has held "significant creative influence" on SmackDown since early 2020. He was the individual on the creative team who pitched for Big E to go on a singles run and the likes of Gran Metalik, Lince Dorado, Shorty G and Drew Gulak all received increased TV time in the summer of 2020 because Bryan lobbied for them.

In regards to The American Dragon's own in-ring career, he is currently the favourite to win the Royal Rumble on January 31.
