Season seven of VICE TV's Dark Side of the Ring will premiere on July 7, with the new season opening with a trilogy of episodes on TNA Wrestling and Jeff Jarrett.
A key figure in the history of Total Nonstop Action Wrestling will be absent from Dark Side of the Ring, however. PWInsider has reported that Dixie Carter turned down several invitations to be interviewed for the series to discuss her memories of TNA.
After initially working with the promotion on PR following TNA's founding, Dixie Carter helped save TNA as her family business, Panda Energy, purchased a majority stake in the pro wrestling promotion in October 2002 after TNA's initial investor in HealthSouth pulled out.
Carter was appointed TNA president in the spring of 2003 and she remained the top executive in TNA Wrestling until January 2017 when Anthem acquired an 85 per cent stake in TNA amid financial difficulties for the promotion. Carter initially retained a minority stake in TNA, but her remaining shares were sold sometime after TNA was renamed IMPACT Wrestling. The promotion reverted back to being named TNA in January 2024.
During her time as TNA president, Carter appeared as an on-screen character on IMPACT between 2009 and 2016. She returned for one-night appearances in TNA at Slammiversary 2022 and the Thursday Night IMPACT premiere on AMC in January 2026.
While Carter will not be on Dark Side of the Ring, PWInsider has noted that, in addition to Jeff Jarrett, the likes of Karen Jarrett, Jim Cornette, Vince Russo, and The Hardys will be featured in the trilogy of TNA episodes.
