Report: Fears WWE 'Won't Strike While The Iron Is Hot' With LA Knight
There is worry within WWE over LA Knight's push
Aug 3, 2023
One of the most popular talents on WWE TV in 2023 has been LA Knight, with the former Eli Drake regularly receiving huge reactions in arenas around the globe from Madison Square Garden to The O2. The former IMPACT World Champion has also shifted plenty of merchandise for WWE, topping the merchandise sales rankings for July 2023.
WWE's booking of Knight has yet to catch up with his popularity but reports have indicated the former Million Dollar Champion is set for a renewed push following SummerSlam on August 2023. Following on from that, PWInsider has claimed that Knight not being featured prominently on WWE TV in recent weeks is by design and the company are waiting for the right time to "pull the trigger" on the 40-year-old and give him a push.
WWE executives are also reportedly "extremely high" on Knight and he has been praised within the company for getting himself over and becoming an even stronger character than what was originally envisioned for him on the main roster, with comparisons being made to Steve Austin transitioning to Stone Cold after originally debuting as the Ringmaster.
Knight's merchandise numbers and reactions inside arenas have been used as evidence to show he is a talent on the rise within the company.
Despite all of this positivity around Knight, however, there is still some worry within the company that WWE will miss out on pushing Knight when he is at his most popular, something the organisation has been guilty of doing in the past with the likes of Braun Strowman, Bryan Danielson, and Zack Ryder.
WRKD Wrestling tweeted, in part: "We can add that there are parties worried that the company won't strike while the iron is hot and momentum will fade, as they've done with some in the past."
Fans in Detroit will be able to see LA Knight in action this week and he will compete in the Slim Jim Battle Royal at SummerSlam on Saturday, August 5.
