Report: Finish Of United States Title Match At WWE WrestleMania 37 Was Changed

Sheamus walked away with the gold on Sunday

WrestleMania 37 went through some last-minute changes over the weekend and multiple matches had their finishes altered.

One of those matches was The Fiend vs. Randy Orton, which opened night two. The plan was always for The Apex Predator to walk away with the victory, but he would have been written off TV for a "good period of time." Vince McMahon and Bruce Prichard switched the plans to a "surprise" finish only hours before the bell rang, though, and Orton was ultimately in action on Monday Night Raw against Drew McIntyre and Braun Strowman.

Another match that was changed has now been revealed, courtesy of Fightful Select. They reported Riddle was originally booked to retain the United States Championship in his match against Sheamus, but WWE opted to go with The Celtic Warrior as the winner over the weekend instead.

The decision to switch the result was made in order to continue the feud between both men, but if they will face off at the next pay-per-view ultimately remains to be seen.
